Sanitation

Toilet Making – Building Health and Dignity

In many rural areas, the absence of toilets is not just a health hazard but also a matter of dignity, especially for women. Open defecation exposes communities to diseases, insecurity, and unsafe practices.

Suraj Foundation has been working with local villagers to construct community and household toilets, encouraging people to take charge of their health and hygiene. Through collective participation, families contribute their effort and labor, while the foundation provides guidance and resources.

The result is more than just a structure—it is a step toward dignity, safety, and better health. Women now have privacy, children are safer, and the overall community environment has become cleaner and healthier.

Drain Cleaning – Reviving Sanitation Together

Poor drainage is one of the biggest causes of waterlogging, mosquito breeding, and unhygienic surroundings in villages. Often neglected, blocked drains quickly become a major health risk for the entire community.

With Suraj Foundation’s support, villagers come together under community-led drives to clean and repair drainage systems. What seems like a small action creates a massive impact—roads stay dry, water-borne diseases reduce, and families live in cleaner surroundings.

More importantly, these initiatives remind everyone that cleanliness and health are shared responsibilities. When a community joins hands to clean its drains, it also clears away barriers to well-being, pride, and progress.
